ProClosets.com and the Environment
We work hard to serve you and protect our environment.
100% of our particleboard is recovered from "post industrial waste streams."
That means our particleboard is recovered from the manufacturing process that wood mills utilize to manufacture lumber used elsewhere. Building our closet organizers from recovered particleboard has far less impact on forests than building them from solid wood. Re-using wood fibers to produce recovered particle board has far less impact than burning the by-product from wood mills for energy, (known as co-generation) or sending that by-product to landfills.
Our particleboard meets standars set for formaldehyde emissions and air quality.
Our particleboard already complies with the Phase I, January 1, 2009 maximum formaldehyde emission limit set by the California Air Resource Board on April 26th 2007. We are proud that the closet organizers we currently produce and ship to the entire country meet future high standards set in California for formaldehyde emissions and air quality. One of our highest priorities at Proclosets is to stay aware and ahead of all relevant regulatory policies that impact our products.
We utilize over 95% recyclable materials in our packaging process.
We recently achieved our goal of utilizing over 95% recyclable materials in our packaging process. We've developed a packaging system to ensure the leftover packaging from your customer installations does not fill up landfills and is easily recycled.
The corrugated cardboard packaging we use consists of 30-50% recycled paper products.
The corrugated cardboard packaging we use to ship an average job consists of 30-50% recycled paper products. This is the highest recycled content possible to produce the necessary strength needed to protect the product we ship to you for your installations. The issue with boxes comprising more than 50% recycled content is that they begin to lose their fiber integrity and the result is soft, easy to tear corrugated cardboard which does not function well in the shipping environment.
98% of our inbound cardboard from suppliers is recycled onsite.
98% of our inbound cardboard from our suppliers is recycled into packing material onsite. This has significantly reduced the amount of waste product that is carted away from our facility.
100% of our waste product resulting from cut closet rods is recycled.
Until 2007, stock lengths were sent to our dealers. The excess lengths after our customers would cut their closet rods to size were discarded locally. Now, everything is custom cut to size with our computer controlled saws and any remnant pieces are recycled. This improvement makes your installations quicker because it saves you time and it's also good for the environment.
These are some achievements that protect the environment ProClosets is proud to have accomplished over the years. We know there is still more to do and we will continue to work each day to be innovative in the way we serve our customers and our environment.
